Bittersweet....

Last weekend we went to my nephews birthday party. It was a beautiful but slightly windy day. They had a bounce house. Ronan loved it but Robert didn't want to take his shoes off so he didn't go in.

They're both so picky so Ronan only ate fruit and Robert ate the snacks that I brought for him. I wonder when I won't have to bring a diaper bag full of snacks to parties anymore? My mom and my sister in law gave the boys blue lollipops. They're the only color Robert will eat.... Actually, they were ring pops that Robert called 'Lady Pops'. LOL.

Ronan fell asleep in the car on the way there. Very typical of Ronan...Robert loves to watch the cars go by so he always, always, always stay awake. Just another car ride with us....

Playing soccer!

Oh soccer fun!

So the bittersweet part started the moment we got to the party....Ronan immediately started playing soccer with my older son Jadin, my daughter Haily and our cousin Riley.....Robert happily stimmed with his 'lady pop'....Robert really wanted to jump in the bounce house but removal of shoes proved to be a task he wasn't ready to do to join in the fun. And on the way home, Ronan was talking about something and I was conversing with him and all of the sudden he says 'Mom, Robert doesn't talk.' I said 'I know baby. He doesn't talk much.' Ronan must've sensed my sadness over that little remark because he replied - 'Mom Robert doesn't talk alot, he talks a little.' Yes, yes he does Ronan. That was the first time that Ronan seemed to be aware of the differences between him and Robert. I was also reminded by some lovely ladies who I consider dear friends that Ronan also showed empathy. Indeed he did!

  1. There will be plenty of bitter in life, so best to focus on the sweet:) And your kids are a wonderful source of "sweet"!
